Describe a significant setback, challenge or opportunity in your life and the impact that it has had on you. (Your response should be 300-500 words.

One of the bigger setbacks that I have experienced has to do with sports. I started bowling when I was a junior in high school, before that I played basketball. I should have chosen to bowl before. I feel like if I started bowling when I was a freshmen I'd have the experience i need to get a full ride scholarship, but i didn't. I've been bowling in high school for about two years, and I have exceeded some, but not as much as I would like to. If I could go back to freshmen year, I would go out for bowling over basketball any day. Basketball wasn't very fun for me personally. I'd just like to see how good i'd be in bowling if I would have stuck with it throughout my whole entire high school career, but I guess i'll never find out.

Ryan Plambeck - writing prompt #1

If a handful of people can change the world for the worse, then I am certain that a handful of people can change the world for the better. What will you do do to make this world of ours, which feels so broken right now, a better place? It won't take just one person to make the world a better place. It will take groups of people to make the world a better place. If we all just did one or two minor things, we could make this world a better place. I plan on going into the technology field when I go to college. I want to be a part of technological advancements, and I want to be a part of something that everybody uses every single day, that benefits the people.

Ryan Plambeck - prompt #2

What does the following quote mean to you? "You don’t get to pick where you’re from, but you always have control of where you’re going." What this quote means to me is that i didn't have any control of my parents choices to raise me in this town. I do wish that I was raised somewhere else, somewhere with a higher population. the second part of the quote means the most to me, because after college I would like to move far away from this town, and Iowa.
